Ann’s salon on the High Street, Clay Cross, is shortlisted for best hair color salon at the Salon Awards and the UK Hair and Beauty Awards.
Kay Norman, who is team leader at Ann’s, said, “We are very excited and appreciate the opportunity to become finalists.
The company will have to wait until November for the announcement of the Salon Award winner and until April next year to find out if it has triumphed at the UK Hair and Beauty Awards.
Ann’s, which launched 48 years ago, has five employees including Ann Simpson, Kay Norman, Bridget Greenway and shampoo trainees Ebony Crowder and Grace Hemper. Kay said, “We always like to say it’s teamwork that makes the dream work.”

Team leader Kay’s coloring expertise on blondes, brunettes and bold colors caught the attention of UK Hair and Beauty Awards judges and led to the salon being selected for the final after submitting pictures for the contest.
Kay said, “I’m inspired by all the bleaching/coloring that’s been modernized in salons today and I love the challenges and excitement that hair coloring brings. I have spent the last few years online training and day training in specialist coloring techniques to get inspired with different ideas to use in the salon,”
She has worked at the Clay Cross salon for 34 years and says helping people feel confident and happy about themselves is her inspiration.
