New Hair Salon Twisted Beauty Holds Official Groundbreaking Ceremony

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – After a soft opening last December, Twisted Beauty hair salon held its official grand opening on Wednesday afternoon, June 15, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce.

Located off Highway 280, next to Pickle Patch Market and Giovanni’s Italian Restaurant, Twisted Beauty welcomed friends, family and community members to their facility for a festive occasion.

“We appreciate that you trust us to be our partner,” Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Laura Strickland told Twisted Beauty owner Kim Bagwell, “and [we want] to help you be the best you can be in your business. In any way we can help you with this, we are honored.

Strickland also pointed out that the lounge has received a bit of a boost due to its proximity to Giovanni’s, which was recently featured on Food Network’s Restaurant: Impossible.

It was Bagwell’s dream to open her own salon, and after finishing cosmetology school, with the help of her family and close friends, she was able to achieve her goal.

“You all helped make this dream a reality,” Bagwell said. “I never would have thought six months ago that this place would be full of love and laughter and the most fun we could ever have.”

Twisted Beauty’s first date was Bagwell’s recently deceased father. He received the first Twisted Beauty haircut on December 13, 2021.

“When Dad got sick, he had mentioned something about me opening a salon,” Bagwell noted. “We almost lost him in October. If dad hadn’t pushed, I don’t know if I would have opened this place. He always pushed us to be better than we thought. »

Bagwell’s first hire for Twisted Beauty was Shannon Jackson, and she’s since built a formidable team that includes hairstylists and beautification specialists Carrie Wesson, Emily Smith, Jade Douglas and Heather Turgeon.

“These are my daughters,” Bagwell said. “They keep me going.”

Towards the end of the day, Strickland asked Bagwell what the name Twisted Beauty meant.

“I thought, you know, you twist your hair,” Bagwell explained, “and you must be a little twisted to work here and deal with us on a day-to-day basis. We want you out of here with your beautiful twisted hair.
