Our reporter buys a small kiddie pool from Daiso and has way too much fun with it

Look, it’s really hot, okay?

Summer is upon us and we will do what it takes to stay cool. Fortunately, we don’t have to spend a lot of money on this, because our favorite 100 yen store, Daiso, sells children’s pools every summer! Our Japanese-speaking reporter and Daiso’s resident tester, Go Hatori, looks forward to this time every year.

This year’s paddling pool had a photo of a smiling child playing in it on the box, so it was clearly aimed at children… but Go thought it might be false advertising. After all, nothing is really just for kids. Adults could probably use it too… right?

Go, 43, was willing to give it a try so you don’t have to.

The swimming pool was inflatable plastic typeso Go sat down on his living room floor and proceeded to blast him.

Then he filled it with water…

Then put on her best bathing suit and walked in.

▼Splunk!

It was the perfect size!

There was plenty of room. He could actually put about half his body in there (if he curled up).

“Feel good!”

Perfect for lounging…

Great for swimming!

And great for buns!

In fact, Go may have had a little too much fun with the hair flips…

▼ What must his neighbors have thought?

“This pool is not just for kids!” Go cry.

“It’s the best!”

Well, here’s Go’s expert testimony: Daiso’s 700 yen (US$5.19) children’s pool offers plenty of entertainment for adults and children alike. If you’re still burning out this summer, this is a great option to help cool you down!

If you feel like you might not be one of them, Go has plenty more expert tips for staying cool in the summer. Why not try showering with somen, or making your own shaved ice using things found at Daiso?

Honestly, is there anything Daiso doesn’t sell? One of these days they’ll be selling Scoons…oh wait, they already do!
