TRUSSVILLE – Pigtails and Crewcuts, a hair salon for the whole family, has opened in Trussville.

Pigtails and Crewcuts is a franchise that started in the Buckhead area of Atlanta, Georgia, and has been serving families for 17 years.

Pigtails and Crewcuts is a hairdressing salon for all children of all ages, decorated with primary colors; it has the possibility of hosting events for children and their families. The salon has no age limit. Pigtails and Crewcut Trussville and Vestavia Hills owner Jennifer Murray said she has provided haircuts to children as young as two weeks old and adults in their mid-70s.

The salon offers many outlets for families to entertain children waiting for a haircut. Kids can play on the trains, watch a movie on one of the living room’s four TVs, play Nintendo Switch, or visit the party room equipped with a craft table and toys.

Each salon station offers pet lollipops and cookies that kids can enjoy while having their hair cut. After each haircut, children can choose a prize from the treasure chest. Murray said she didn’t want a child to leave empty-handed.

Pigtails and Crewcuts don’t want to leave any child behind, and Murray explained that they will always provide services for children with extraordinary needs.

Some parents, family members, caregivers, anyone with special needs children who are autistic or have Down syndrome; they fear taking their kids to places like ours because they don’t know if they would be welcome or if we would be tolerable, ”Murray said.

Murray wants people to know it doesn’t matter Whatever your challenges, Pigtail and Crewcuts will do their best to make everyone feel welcome, safe and comfortable.

“Yes a kid needs to change the chair they’re sitting on, take a break for a few minutes while we do another haircut, and then after they resume the haircut we can do it, ”Murray said. “I want people to know that we don’t discriminate. We want everyone to come in and be welcomed and comfortable because we want to give them a wonderful experience where they will keep coming back to us, they will tell their friends, and it will be a good thing for everyone.

Pigtails and Crewcuts want to offer the city of Trussville an experience that was not previously available.

“Our bread and butter is really just a hairstyle experience for the whole family, ”said Murray.

Murray explained the process of an “extra haircut,” where a child has to have their hair cut, but a sibling or guardian accompanying the child can also receive a haircut.

“WWe can give people a wonderful experience because we save them the hassle of coming back and making another appointment or going somewhere else where we can take care of it for them right away, ”said Murray.

Two years ago Murray opened the first Pigtails and Crewcuts in Alabama. Murray has a experience in marketing and merchandising, worked in American companies before having children and became a stay-at-home mom.

Murray started working from home as an analyst, but said she didn’t feel challenged. Wanting to continue contributing to her family’s income, she contacted a colleague who had opened three Pigtails and Crewcuts lounges in the Orlando area.

Realizing the potential of supporting her family and helping others in her community, Murrary decided that she would open her own business.

“I was a new mom with young children,” Murray said. “I I loved the idea of being closer to the kids where it was a place I could bring my kids if I needed to be at work and not have to worry about having a daycare option for them or a nanny or a babysitter I had the flexibility to always be with my kids and still be a working parent.

Trussville was one of the places Murray first looked into when Pigtails and Crewcuts opened two years earlier, but due to timing issues she opened the Vestavia site first. Hills. Now, finding the space in Trussville still available, Murray decided to open the second location in Alabama for Pigtails and Crewcuts.

“It was a great experience with that,” said Murray. “I feel like everything went perfectly since it was the same place I was looking for two years ago, and we are here, and it’s a good start so far.”
